Should I submit a Subject Access Request or a request to view the education record?

When deciding whether to submit a SAR or a request to view your child’s education record, you need to consider what information you wish to obtain.

If you submit a SAR for all of your, or your child’s personal data, it will disclose both information contained in the education record, if held by the school you have submitted it to, and any other personal data held.

If you only require a copy of the education record, you will only get that information and would not get any further personal data that may be held.
