Why do we operate CCTV and surveillance camera systems?

We currently operate a variety of open (overt) CCTV surveillance systems, which are clearly marked by appropriate signage. This includes:

Both internal and external cameras to monitor our buildings and other assets across the estate,
Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras,
Dash Cameras, and
Body Worn Cameras (BWCs).

We may also use CCTV for undercover (covert) surveillance to support with specific investigations and operations, but only with express authorisation under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA).
