What is covered by the Information Governance Framework?

Our Information Governance Framework Policy outlines our strategy for managing and supporting the governance of information. It applies to all employees, partners, contractors  and any other third party (such as volunteers or students) who have any access to the council’s information or systems.

We will ensure that:

  • We meet our regulatory and legislative requirements;
  • We ensure confidentiality of information;
  • We protect information against unauthorised access;
  • We maintain the quality and integrity of our information;
  • Suitable business continuity plans are in place;
  • We provide information governance training to all staff;
  • We investigate and resolve information security breaches; and
  • We continue to meet the mandatory requirements of the annual Data Security and Protection Toolkit.

We aim to place ‘privacy by design and default’ at the forefront of our use of personal data. The Information Management Service have established an information risk assessment process and provide advice to the council during procurements, supplier assessment, and contract management processes.

We remain committed to transparency and maintains a library of Privacy Notices to keep you informed.
