Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury Strategic Local Plan
The Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury Strategic Local Plan (SLP) is out for public consultation from 16th January to 12th March. The SLP is the successor to the Joint Core Strategy (JCS) and its associated three district local plans. The SLP will include both strategic and more detailed policies across all three district areas. This is the first stage of a two-phase Regulation 18 consultation and covers spatial options and key policy areas. Topics include climate change, economic development and infrastructure. The draft Plan also sets out six possible sustainable development scenarios including urban concentration, rural dispersal and sustainable transport options. These will be of particular interest to the County Council in terms of infrastructure delivery and meeting decarbonisation targets amongst other things.
The second stage of the consultation is expected in 2025.
County Council officers are now reviewing the draft Plan and will be submitting comments ahead of the deadline. The draft Plan and associated documents can be viewed at:
