Flood guide and regular updates
Members will no doubt be aware that there are many road closures in place across Gloucestershire particularly in the Tewkesbury area. Along with Local Resilience Forum (LRF) we are reminding communities NOT to ignore road closures or enter flood water particularly as it can cause water to enter properties. Keep an eye on Current road closures | Highways (gloucestershire.gov.uk) or on X (twitter) @GlosRoads. Partners from the LRF have been door knocking properties at risk of property flooding to offer support and advise if evacuation is needed. Rest centres are either on standby or already open as needed. Residents at immediate risk and in need of help to evacuate are advised to please call 999 and ask for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service. We are also advising people to take extra care when dealing with pumps particularly those powered by fuel as misuse can in extreme circumstances lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.
We have a comprehensive flooding guide Flood guide | Gloucestershire County Council which provides access to information on how to deal with flooding, gain access to alerts etc. Those with internal flooding are encouraged to report it as soon as possible on our Flood Online Reporting Tool (FORT) so we know who to help in future as part of our flood resilience programme. This guide has been on our homepage for a number of weeks during the wet weather and posted regularly on social media as is standard protocol. However, the push is even greater at the moment. Members help in getting these messages out will be invaluable and we thank you for your support in our communities.
