New council leader elected 

At today’s meeting of Full Council, Cllr Stephen Davies was elected as the new Leader of Gloucestershire County Council. Cllr Davies takes over from Cllr Mark Hawthorne who announced in July that after 14 years leading the council he had decided to stand down.

New council campaign asks residents to ‘hand it back’! 

Gloucestershire County Council has launched a campaign today asking residents to return any mobility equipment they are no longer using. 

Brighter journeys ahead for Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire County Council has replaced streetlights with LED bulbs that have reduced energy consumption by 70%.   

Gloucestershire County Council is working in partnership with Adoption West to ensure any mothers, or children who are now adults, impacted by forced adoption practices have access to readily available support. 

A new service is being launched by Gloucestershire County Council using latest digital technology, to help residents budget effectively. 

In attendance at the training exercise which took place on Thursday 19 September were Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS), Police, Southwest Ambulance Service, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, Avon Fire and Rescue Service, the Hazardous Area Response Team, Seven Area Rescue Association, Military, as well as a number of volunteers from Hartpury College who acted as ‘casualties’ in the simulated exercise.   

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) and Gloucestershire County Council’s (GCC) Trading Standards new headquarters was officially opened today (Tuesday 24 September) by Cllr Dave Norman MBE. The headquarters is located at Quayside House, Gloucester, close to GCC’s Shire Hall offices and is helping to strengthen collaboration between county council and fire and rescue service teams. 

Residents are being reminded to have their say on draft proposals for changes to the Cheltenham Zone 15 parking review, ahead of the deadline this Friday, 27 September.
