Remembering 'ordinary people' on Holocaust Memorial Day
Holocaust Memorial Day takes place every year on 27 January and this year’s theme is ‘ordinary people’ and highlights that genocide is facilitated by ordinary people.
To mark this important day, we will be filming Councillor Mark Hawthorne, Pete Bungard and Mark Preece talking about the importance of Holocaust Memorial Day and lighting candles to remember all those affected by the Holocaust and other genocides.
This recording will be available on 27 January on Staffnet, our website and social media and we ask that you set aside some time during the day to remember those who were murdered during the Holocaust and other genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
We will be flying the flag half-mast over Shire Hall on 27 January.
Gloucester Guildhall marks Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) You are welcome to come along to the Guildhall on Eastgate Street, Gloucester, between 11am and 1pm to mark Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) and pay your respects to the millions of lives lost to genocide.
