Introducing the Gloucestershire Food Map to help residents find local support

Published

Food plays a vital role in life across Gloucestershire. It brings people together, supports our health and wellbeing, and strengthens our local economy and environment. Our county is home to a rich and vibrant network of community‑led food projects, often right on our doorstep. Knowing where to find this support is the first step to connecting with food, engaging with your local community, and making the most of what Gloucestershire’s food networks have to offer.

Developed by Feeding Gloucestershire, in partnership with community food partners across the county, the Food Support Map brings together community food organisations in one live resource. The map is designed to help residents find food support more easily and strengthen opportunities to connect with local people and services. At the same time, the map is intended to support partners to understand the wider food system, improve coordination of services, and identify gaps, contributing to our countywide aim of making Gloucestershire a place where everyone can access and enjoy good food.

Featuring over 115 organisations, the map uses the Food Ladder model to help people find the support that best fits their specific situation:

  • Food banks: Provides free emergency food parcels to people in crisis who are unable to afford food.
  • Food pantries: Membership-based shops offering affordable groceries and choice.
  • Community fridges: Free surplus food open to everyone to help reduce food waste.
  • Lunch clubs & community meals: Opportunities to share a hot meal and connect with others.
  • Growing & cooking projects: Community gardens and allotments focused on long-term skills and sustainability.

Key features of the map include:

  • Search by town: instantly find support nearby.
  • Filter by type of support: quickly identify the food support that you need.
  • Detailed listings: includes opening times, contact details, and whether a referral is required.
  • Live updates: the map is updated regularly to ensure accuracy as new community food projects emerge.

We invite Members to share this resource widely so residents can easily access the support they need. The map is available at: https://www.feedinggloucestershire.org.uk/food-map/
