LGA Disabled Councillors Leadership Programme

Published

Dear LGDCN member,

We wanted to let you know about something that we hope will be of interest either to you.

Applications are open for the 3rd cohort of the LGA Disabled Councillors Leadership Programme, which is a brilliant programme delivered with Disability Rights UK.

The programme starts in November with a residential in Manchester, followed by two online workshops in Jan & Feb and a final residential in March in Birmingham. It’s fully funded by UK Government, so it is free to attend – we only ask that councillors’ local authorities fund their travel costs to & from the venue. We also welcome councillors’ bringing a support person with them, which many of our previous delegates have done.

Here is the application link and here is the LGA web page with more information.

We were able to publish an article for Disability Pride Month First Magazine highlighting the work of the Network and giving an overview of the report findings, and we have published one of the case studies on our website which – by coincidence – is the one which covers the first cohort of the LGA Disabled Councillors Leadership Programme so is a good read for anyone interested in applying for that. We will keep you updated in relation to the publication of the full report.

All the best

Tamsin and Viola
