Removal of requirements to publish a member’s home address

Published

As of the 29 June 2026, local authorities will not be required to publish an elected or co-opted member’s home address in local authority registers of interest.

The new section 32A of the Localism Act 2011 makes clear that a member’s home address should not be disclosed on a local authority’s public register of interest unless the member has requested otherwise.

Gloucestershire County Council will be implementing this change with immediate effect.

Members will still be required to provide their address (and any other land they own) within their register of interest, however these details will be withheld from the public version, unless the member expressly requests publication.
