Shire Hall Remembrance Day Commemorations – 10 November 2023

Published

This year’s Gloucestershire County Council Remembrance Day Commemorations will be held in main reception at Shire Hall at 11.00am on Friday 10 November 2023. As in previous years, Gloucester City Rector, Canon Nikki Arthy, from Gloucester Cathedral will lead the service.

Members and officers are welcome to attend the service, where Chair of Council, Cllr Vernon Smith, will lay a wreath on behalf of the County Council, alongside Cllr Andrew Gravells, as Armed Forces Covenant Champion, Pete Bungard, on behalf of staff of Gloucestershire County Council, and Chief Fire Officer, Mark Preece, on behalf of Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

If joining the service in person, it is advisable to make your way to main reception by 10.45am. This year, it has been agreed that the sounding of the Shire Hall alarm bells will not be used to mark the start and ending of the 2-minute silence. Communications will be made via the intranet to allow members and officers to choose how they wish to mark the commemorations.

The service will be live streamed on the Gloucestershire County Council website for those members and officers who intend to view the service at their desk or whilst working from home.
