Shire Hall Service of Remembrance - Monday 11 November 2024

Published

Councillors and staff are invited to join this years’ Service of Remembrance, which will be held in main reception at Shire Hall, Gloucester, at 11.00am on Monday 11 November 2024. For those wishing to join the service in person, please make your way to main reception by 10.45am. The service will commence at 11.00am and last approximately 20 minutes.

As in previous years, we are pleased to welcome Canon Nikki Arthy from Gloucester Cathedral, who will lead the service, and where wreaths will be laid by Chief Fire Officer, Mark Preece, Cllr Susan Williams, Vice Chair of Council and Cllr Stephan Fifield, Deputy Leader of Council. This year, invitations have been extended to other faith leaders across Gloucestershire, but due to them either being involved in their own services or have other long-standing commitments, they are unable to attend. They did, however, welcome the invitations and have wished us well. See footnote below

A two-minute silence will be held at 11.00am, but this will not be marked by the sounding of the fire alarm. The service will be live-streamed and therefore available to view via the council website for those unable to attend the service in person.

For information: Commemoration poppies plus the following items (subject to availability) are available in main reception at Shire Hall. There is no fixed priced for the items, but a donation of at least £2 for the Royal British Legion, would be gratefully received.
