Two thirds of people in the UK wear second hand clothes, are you one of them?

The Gloucestershire Recycles team are really excited to share details of the ‘Wear Not Waste’ fashion campaign launching on the 2nd September.

September is a great time to talk about the impact of the fashion industry with National campaigns like ‘Second Hand September’ and ‘Sustainable Fashion Week’ running. 👕👗👖

You can find out all about the impacts of clothing on our website – gloucestershirerecycles.com/fashion but the key takeaways are that around 8-10% of global carbon emissions come from clothing! That can easily be changed and can help save people money as well as save the planet 🌍✌💷

To take part in the campaign we are asking people to:

  • Host a clothes swap – find our ‘how to’ guide attached and email Waste@gloucestershire.gov.uk to arrange to borrow a clothes swap kit. Let us know if you plan to hold a clothes swap and we can add details to our website. 🔀
  • Use the attached resources and email signature below to promote the campaign. Simply use the posters to write in information about your events, use the Facebook image on your Social Media posts and add the email signature banner to your emails. 🔊
  • Tell friends, family, colleagues and everyone else about the campaign, and direct them to gloucestershirerecycles.com/fashion for more information. 🙌

Please help us by encouraging residents to take part, look out for posts on GCC’s social media and contact the team if you would like posters distributing to residents and community groups in your area. Contact us on Waste@gloucestershire.gov.uk
