Update from Asset Management & Property Services - Works on block 1

Dear Member,

You may have noticed that maintenance work is currently taking place in Block 1 of Shire Hall. As a result, some meeting rooms are temporarily unavailable and cannot be booked. We wanted to explain what’s happening and why.

The work forms part of the upgrade of the heating system in Block 1. Many of the existing radiators and valves have reached the end of their lifespan and are becoming increasingly prone to faults and leaks, so they need to be replaced to ensure the building remains safe and comfortable.

We expect this work to be completed by the end of October 2026 and, once finished, this will complete the upgrade of the heating system in Block 1.

We appreciate that the temporary loss of some meeting rooms may cause inconvenience and would like to thank you for your patience and understanding while this essential work is carried out.
