White Ribbon Accreditation Update

Published

In July’s members matters article, you were informed that the our application for White Ribbon Accreditation was successful. White Ribbon Accreditation is a demonstration of our commitment to continuously work towards culture change in order to eradicate violence against women, and to upskill us all so we can become changemakers.

As a White Ribbon Accredited organisation, we must develop a plan of action that works towards ending men’s violence against women in Gloucestershire. Work on our three-year plan, which is already underway, is being led by the White Ribbon Steering Group, chaired by Rob Ayliffe, Director of Policy, Performance & Governance.

If you haven’t already made the White Ribbon Promise or singed up as an ambassador or champion, you can by following the links below:

  • An important first step that you can all make is to make the White Ribbon Promise to never use, excuse or remain silent about men’s violence against women. You can do this via the White Ribbon’s website - whiteribbon.org.uk/promise.
  • If you want to take on more responsibility to advocate for culture change and gender equality, you could consider becoming a White Ribbon Ambassador or Champion. You can find out more about these important roles and how to register on the White Ribbon website – www.whiteribbon.org.uk/ambassadors-champions
  • Once you’ve registered as an ambassador or champion please complete our form GCC White Ribbon Champion and Ambassador Sign Up (office.com) to let us know you have signed up and get your White Ribbon badge.

Additionally, we are planning to hold a GCC White Ribbon Conference for all those who have signed up as champions or ambassadors on the morning of the 30th November 9-12 in the Council Chamber at Shire Hall.
