Case study - Eurovision

The 2022 Eurovision Song Contest was won by Ukraine, but due to the war, the 2023 Contest was held in Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine. In Gloucestershire, local communities came together to celebrate this remarkable achievement.

The main event took place at Gloucester’s Guildhall cinema, where Ukrainian flags, balloons, and banners filled the space, creating a festive atmosphere and a sense of pride. Over 100 Ukrainian families, many in traditional Vyshyvanka outfits, joined their hosts for a memorable evening. Stroud and Forest of Dean also hosted live screening parties, which were met with enthusiasm and rave reviews, making the celebration a resounding success.

It was great to meet everyone at the Eurovision party on Saturday. Our guest really enjoyed it and more importantly made some new contacts with other Ukrainian guests. Absolutely brilliant, thank you to the team for organising it.
