Active April with the Gloucestershire Carers Hub
This campaign aims to help you incorporate more physical activity into your daily routine and boost your overall well-being. You don't have to run a marathon to be active!
Why not start off start small and gradually build up your activity levels. The Chief Medical Officer recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity cardiovascular activity per week, which can include brisk walking, dancing, light cycling, or climbing stairs. Alternatively, you could aim for 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity, such as heavy lifting, running, gym work, fast cycling, or aerobics.
Gloucestershire Carers Hub understand that Parent Carers have many responsibilities, so we offer a variety of free virtual activities that you can join in with at your convenience, including Shibashi Qigong, seated exercises for balance and core strength, yoga, gentle stretching and exercise, retro aerobics, and Zumba.
You can participate with or without your camera on, and you're welcome to bring the person you support along if they would like to join in.
To find out more about our sessions or to book a place, please contact us at bookings@peopleplus.co.uk or call 0300 111 9000.
There are many simple physical activities you can do to get moving and feel better, such as walking, yoga, swimming, dancing, cycling, and strength training. The key is to find an activity that you enjoy and fits into your lifestyle. Remember to start small and gradually increase your time and intensity.
If physical exercise isn't feasible for you, there are other activities you can try to keep your mind active and engaged, such as journaling, painting, drawing, colouring, gardening, knitting, crocheting, crafting, and solving puzzles.
We hope these ideas will inspire you to incorporate more physical activity and other engaging activities into your daily routine, so you can improve your overall well-being and take some much-needed time for yourself.
