SENDIASS Gloucestershire
SENDIASS Gloucestershire (SENDIASS) provides information, advice and support on matters relating to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The service is offered to parents and carers of children and young people aged between 0 and 25 years old.
We provide free, confidential, and impartial advice and support to parents/carers and young people. We provide information based on current law. As an impartial service, we do not take sides, nor do we make decisions of behalf of parent/carers or young people. We treat all parties respectfully.
SENDIASS Gloucestershire has a freephone telephone helpline with a 24-hour voicemail facility to leave a message for a call back. Contact can also be made by via the ‘Contact Us’ form on our website.
The service operates a ‘self-referral’ process. However, on occasions it may be considered appropriate for a professional to contact the service on behalf of a parent/carer or young person. The service will act upon such requests only on the full understanding that consent has been given.
We tailor our support to the individual needs of the parent/carer and young person and where possible our aim is to build upon the individual’s skills, knowledge, and confidence to promote independence, empowerment, and self-advocacy.Â
SENDIASS Advisers are independently legally trained by IPSEA (the Independent Provider of Special Education Advice). The CPD training is authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). SENDIASS is a statutory service (required by law under the Children’s and Families Act 2014).
