The commissioning team at Gloucestershire County Council offer their congratulations to the Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Youth Hubs teams for winning the Youth Voice Award at the No Child Left Behind Awards! Teresa Parker explains why they won.

Congratulations to our Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Youth Hubs for winning the Youth Voice Award at the No Child Left Behind Awards! 🏆

Over the last 18 months, the Youth Hubs have given young people a powerful platform to make a difference. From hosting a youth voice event attended by 40 young people and local decision makers, to meeting with Gloucestershire Council’s cabinet member for education, Linda Cohen, the team have shown a deep commitment to bridging the gap between youth voice and systemic change.

At our ‘Have Your Say’ event in the summer, young people from Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Youth Hubs, The Rock and Springbank came together to share their views with local leaders from the police, Cheltenham and Gloucestershire Councils, the Mayor of Cheltenham, and to feed into the Children’s Society’s national Good Childhood Report. Their views have been fed back locally and are guiding decision making by No Child Left Behind, as they continue in their year of focus on listening to young people.

The team also engaged in some consultation work to design new youth sessions, including the launch of a weekly Skate Hub.

Mandy Hughes, Area Manager of the Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Youth Hubs noted that:

“Young people’s views and voices are at the centre of everything that The Children’s Society do, so we’re incredibly excited to be recognised in this way.”

One young person summed up the impact:

“Being listened to lifts a weight off my chest.”

Receiving the award alongside the young people we work with is an extremely rewarding and proud moment.

Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Youth Hubs are part of the youth work offer in Gloucestershire, offering open access youth groups across Tewkesbury and Cheltenham districts, and groups specifically for young people with Special Educational Needs, and young people who are home educated.  The service has been running since October 2025.
