Update from Britt Fox, service manager at Gloucestershire SENDIASS

It has been an incredibly busy year at SENDIASS and we have had more calls, emails and website enquiries than ever before. This has included supporting more parents with appeals, mediation hearings and Tribunal paperwork, as well as offering direct support to young people at Transition Meetings and Annual Reviews.

Our Young Person’s Adviser has also been able to provide advocacy for some Young People who considered that their voices weren’t being heard at meetings. They have reported that they now feel more able to attend their next meeting and to confidently share their thoughts, feelings and wishes when they do.

We are very pleased to have been able to secure some additional funding and look forward to welcoming Janita Wood, Gemma Wingrove and Linda Christian to the team. They will be providing advice to parents, as well as supporting at meetings, reviews and appeals. We will also be looking to provide information sessions and drop -advice clinics in different areas of the county too.
