Future Me "You Said, We Do" Report

Published
We are really pleased to be able to share the Future Me Gloucestershire ‘You Say, We Do’ report 2023.

This report brings together the voices of nearly 400 children and young people from across Gloucestershire who have shared their thoughts and feedback in the academic year 2022 – 23.

You told us about what’s good about being a young person with SEND in Gloucestershire, but also about things that could be better. We have sorted your comments into 6 headline areas: Education, Health, Employment, Transport, Independence and Community. Against each headline you’ll find responses from professionals. It is important that when you tell us things, we raise it with our colleagues and give them a chance to respond.

Future Me is a Gloucestershire County Council youth participation group that helps share the voices of children and young people with SEND. We agree that “Effective participation happens when there are strong feedback mechanisms to ensure that children, young people and parents understand the impact their participation is making.” (SEND Code of Practice). That is why this report will be shared with each partner organisation who enabled this engagement, to share onwards to all the children and young people who participated.

We understand that it takes trust for children and young people to share their views with us. We would like to thank every child and young person who took part and shared their time and ideas with us. As part of the report, you’ll find our ‘What’s Next?’ page. This explains how we are using what you’ve told us this year to better inform the engagement we do in the year 2023 – 2024. Your participation is always welcome. For details about how to give feedback about this report, please visit our dedicated webpage.
