Sladewood Academy: opens its doors to pupils in September

Published
Work is almost complete in readiness for Sladewood Academy opening its doors to its first pupils in September.

Gloucestershire County Council has been working alongside SAND Academies Trust, investing in the region of ÂŁ1m, to make the necessary adaptations to the former Severn View Primary Academy in Stroud to provide a suitable learning environment to meet the special educational needs of the children who will be supported there.

As well as substantial upgrades to the fabric of the building, improvements include the addition of a number of breakout, therapy and intervention rooms, a new kitchen for the on-site cooking of school meals and a dedicated pick up and drop off point for school transport.

The school opens under the leadership of Katy Hanna, who joins the school from her role as Assistant Headteacher at Belmont School and, when full, will offer 60 places for primary aged children with Moderate and Additional Learning Difficulties (MALD).

Enquiries about potential placements at the school should be made to the EHCP Casework Team via your named casework officer or by e-mailing sengenenq@gloucestershire.gov.uk
