Family Hubs Summer Launch – Join the Fun Across Gloucestershire!


This August, Gloucestershire’s Family Hubs are hitting the road with a series of exciting summer events—and you’re invited!
Whether you're in Gloucester, the Forest of Dean, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Stroud or the Cotswolds, there’s something happening near you. These events are a fantastic opportunity to meet your local Family Hub team, enjoy free activities, and discover the support and services available to families in your area.


What to Expect:

•    A chance to connect with your local Family Hub team
•    Information, advice, and guidance tailored to your community

Bake your way to wellbeing

Tuesdays from the 5th to the 26th of August

Join the friendly team at Adult Education for a unique, hands-on experience where baking becomes more than just a skill– it’s a way to nourish the soul. 

You’ll learn:

Cook, Chat, Chill and improve your wellbeing

Wednesdays from the 6th of August to the 10th of September

10.30am - 1.00pm or 2.00pm - 4.30pm

At Adult Education in Gloucestershire, 4-6 Commercial Road, Gloucester, GL1 2EA

A 6-week course of fun and interactive sessions where you will learn to cook some easy recipes, have an opportunity to eat what you have cooked and chat with others. Ideal for those wanting to learn how to cook some simple but tasty meals and engage with others to support your overall wellbeing on taste. Cooking techniques that anyone can master.

To attend for free learners:
•    Must be aged over 19 from 31st Aug 2024
•    Must have lived in the UK in the last 3 years or have valid residency.
•    Must be unemployed or earning below £25,000

The Big Summer Stroll & Roll: Walk and wheel your way across Gloucestershire this summer

Explore the beauty Gloucestershire has to offer this summer by joining the Great Gloucestershire Stroll & Roll!

Gloucestershire is bursting with beautiful parks, peaceful countryside paths, and vibrant town trails and The Big Summer Stroll & Roll is your invitation to get out there and enjoy it, your way.

Whether you’re walking, wheeling, rolling, or rambling, this inclusive campaign is all about helping people of all ages and abilities discover the joy of being active outdoors. From city streets to rural retreats, we’re shining a spotlight on the best accessible routes across the county – with ideas to make every outing fun, easy, and inspiring.

Over the summer,  We Can Move and Active Gloucestershire will be sharing themed guides, route maps, and creative ways to explore. You’ll find SEND family-friendly ideas like geocaching and nature spotting, wellbeing moments like mindful walking, and helpful information on how to get started – from what to wear to how to reach the route.

So whether you’re taking your first gentle stroll or planning a weekend wheel through the countryside, this campaign is for you.

Explore Nature at Tewkesbury Nature Reserve

Join the Nature Guardians team for a series of free, family-friendly wildlife sessions this August. Perfect for children aged 4–12 (with adult supervision), these events offer hands-on learning and outdoor fun.

📍 Location: Tewkesbury Nature Reserve car park, off the A38 opposite Snowdonia Road, Wheatpieces Estate, GL20 5FF

🎟 Free to attend – booking required for each child (ages 4–12). Children aged 0–2 attending with a sibling do not need a ticket but must be closely supervised.

Over the summer Gloucestershire Parent Carer Forum will be running Stay and Play sessions  for families who have children with additional needs and their siblings. They would love you to join them - booking is preferable, so they can accommodate numbers.
