Teachers' industrial action planned 15 and 16 March 2023

Following the Industrial Action which took place on Wednesday 1 February, there are further strikes due to take place next month. Your child’s school should keep you informed about any specific arrangements planned.

The National Education Union (NEU), following balloting of membership have announced that their members will be taking strike action during March.

Strike action is planned to taking place on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 March, affecting schools across England.

Schools across the county will be affected differently by this industrial action, with Head Teachers making the final decision as to whether their school will need to close on these two days. Some schools may be largely unaffected, whilst in others it may mean that changes are made to the way they operate or whether they are able to stay open.

Every school will aim to stay open, but schools working with those children who are vulnerable, including those with Special Education Needs and Disabilities, or with children of critical workers will endeavour to have arrangements in place to ensure these children and young people can continue to access their education provision during industrial action, wherever possible. The decision around individual schools, however, will be taken at a local level by the Head Teacher.

Further details around on the strikes can be found on the Department of Education’s, Education Hub Page - Teacher strikes: Everything you need to know about strike action in schools.
