Carers' Services Update - keeping in touch

Published
Between July and September 2024, the Adult Carers team gathered feedback from carers on the support services available for unpaid carers in Gloucestershire. Our goal was to identify what is working well and areas for improvement.

What have we been doing?

Since then, we have been carefully reviewing all responses and planning the next steps. We deeply appreciate everyone who took the time to share their insights, as this feedback is playing a vital role in shaping key projects designed to enhance carers' experiences in accessing support services

Priorities:

We want to share the six overarching themes that carer feedback has highlighted as priorities for an effective carer support service:

  1. Easy navigation of services and accessible information
  1. Recognition of carers and the importance of flexibility and inclusivity in services
  1. Emotional, social and community support
  1. Improved service communication, collaboration, and follow-up
  1. Sufficient training and awareness for professionals and carers
  1. Effective crisis planning, carer assessments, and opportunities for breaks

We are pleased to say that this remains in line with our current overarching Action Plan, please see below:

Action Plan:

We want carers ...

To ensure we stay on the right track, we will continue to seek feedback as these projects develop.

If you would like to share your input as the projects progress, please email commissioninghubadul@gloucestershire.gov.uk, including your name and preferred contact details.

Please note that your contact information will be shared with our co-production partner, Gloucestershire Carers Hub, who play a key role in ensuring carers' voices are heard and considered throughout these projects. Please expect either the GCC Adult Carers Team or the Gloucestershire Carers Hub to be in touch with you in due course.
