The Council for Disabled Children* has just updated its support and guidance for all with a responsibility for schools’ duties in the Equality Act 2010. It now includes references to the latest guidance and related legislation, such as the Ofsted Inspection Framework 2024.

Although the guide is designed to help schools understand the legislation and how it applies to their work with disabled pupils in their school, it gives parent carers an insight into understanding how well a school is meeting its duties to disabled pupils in Equality Act.

This guide from Philippa Stobbs, a veteran of SEND education over decades, is a good read to understand how a school must now respond.  Check out the update on our Support for Families with SEND Local Offer

*The Council for Disabled Children supports disabled children and young people and those with special educational needs to have full and happy childhoods, to fulfil their potential, and be active within the community.
