What is National Storytelling Week?

National Storytelling Week (Saturday, 31 January to Sunday, 8 February 2026) celebrates the power of stories to bring us together and build meaningful human connections.

The Society for Storytelling aims to promote and celebrate the oral tradition of storytelling as an inclusive, social and cultural activity.

This year’s theme is “Speaking Story into the Darkness”.  Join in by sharing, listening, and passing on stories to keep wisdom and wonder alive.

Other organisations  have different programmes for National Storytelling Week, like the National Literacy Trust
