As the new year unfolds, managing finances can feel challenging for families with children who have SEND. Gloucestershire’s Local Offer and Glosfamilies Directory bring together listings of grants, advice, and budgeting tools to support you throughout 2026 and beyond.

Highlights include

  • Family Fund – grants specifically for families raising disabled or seriously ill children.
  • Holidays, Activities and Food (HAF) Programme – support with activities and food during the school holidays.
  • Mobility Support – schemes to help children with long term mobility needs.
  • Disabled Facilities Grant – can help to provide adaptations to give disabled people more independence in and around their home.
  • Gloucestershire Welfare Support Scheme – this fund provides practical support to eligible adults and families for food, gas/electricity top ups and household items.
  • Clean Slate CIC – money management and employment support, including workshops and peer-led sessions in Gloucester and Stroud.

Specialist support

  • Parent Carer peer support - Gloucestershire Parent Carer Forum offers regular 'form-filling' sessions to support applications for DLA (Disability Living Allowance) and PIP (Personal Independence Payment). Make sure you join as a member (it's free!) to keep up to date with future sessions.
  • Gloucestershire Carers Hub offers advice on benefits and finances along with access to the Carer Aware Discount Scheme.  They also have the delegated responsibilities to conduct Care Assessments on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council.
