Thank you for taking part in the annual survey for SEND families
After two months and with 679 responses, the Annual Parent Carer Survey for SEND families closed on 5 December last year. Thank you very much to all families who took time out of their busy lives to respond so fully to the questions.
A record number of Parent Carers took their time to complete the survey, 61% more responses than last year. Each response took an average of 15 minutes to complete. Thank you for your time, careful thoughts and good will. We worked with several key partners, including SENDIASS and Gloucestershire Parent Carer Forum to make the survey shorter and we are very grateful to them for their ongoing support.
Why is the survey important?
This was the second Annual Parent Carer Survey undertaken and is an anonymous questionnaire that asks for feedback about the Education, Health and Care services and support available for children and young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The valuable information shared in this survey will help the SEND and Inclusion Local Area Partnership (SILAP) to better understand how to make continuous improvement to the services and local offer for families.
Widened participation
As ever schools, settings, community connectors, family hubs and dozens of organisations in Gloucestershire’s SEND community encouraged and supported families in completing the survey. Thank you to all these organisations. There has been an increase in responses from groups underrepresented in last year’s survey. This includes better representation of the number of SEND families:
- with a global majority heritage
- with children in Early Years; and
- with young people aged 16-25.
What is next?
The Local Area Partnership is analysing the feedback and will compare the results this year with the baseline data from the first survey last year. The Partnership hopes to have a summary available following its next meeting in the new year.
As with last year’s survey, we will take your feedback to services and will report the changes that services make as a result of your views via the ‘You Said, We Did’ pages on Gloucestershire’s Local Offer, Support for Families with SEND.
Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you at Gloucestershire Parent Carer Forum’s SEND Fair on Monday, 9 February at the Leonardo Hotel in Cheltenham (connected to Arle Court Transport Hub, via underpass).
