GCSE Schedule & What's next
The summer has arrived and for a lot of young people there’s just a little more revision, hard work and patience before the holidays really begin. There are several days of GCSE exams throughout June with:
- Maths exams scheduled on morning of Wednesday 7th and 14th June
- English language exams on the morning of Monday 5th and 12th June
- Biology exams on the afternoon of Friday 9th June & the afternoon of Tuesday 13th June.
- Chemistry exams on the morning of Tuesday 13th June and the morning of Friday 16th June.
- Physics exams taking place on Friday 16th June and the morning of Monday 19th June.
Most students won’t sit all these exams, so it’s worth looking at the BBC Bitesize Page for more information.
Results will be available on Thursday 24th August; students will be able to collect their results from their school, but some schools may choose to send results digitally or post results, so it’s worth checking with your child’s school.
If your child is collecting results from school, students should be made aware of what time the school opens and which classroom you collect results from. Times vary across different education provision so it’s worth checking before the day.
If it’s not possible to collect results on the day, arrangements can be made to have them posted or sent via email, but this will need to be organised beforehand.
You can visit When is GCSE results day 2023? - BBC Bitesize for more information on results day.
If the results aren’t what a young person expects and things don’t go to plan, it’s important not to panic, and instead to get the right information about options, next steps and help available if they need it.
Finding information from National Careers Service around Help with your exam results, or ringing the Exam Results Helpline on 0800 100 900 to chat to a careers adviser can really help, and it’s worth getting in touch if things results aren’t quite what the young expects.
There’s plenty of options available, including potentially resitting, alternative courses and vocational learning like Supported Internships and Apprenticeships. Finding out more information would give you and your child a chance to look at their options and get a plan in place.
