Find out more about Gloucestershire Young Carers, who are celebrating their 30 year Anniversary this year.

Since 1993 Gloucestershire Young Carers has been supporting young carers across the county, from humble beginnings with just 5 young carers in a café in Stroud to a 26 strong team supporting over 1000 young carers aged between 8-24 across the entire county.

Who are young carers?

Young carers are children and young people who carry out significant caring tasks and may assume levels of responsibility for a family member which would ordinarily be taken on by an adult.
They may be involved in the care of an adult or child in their family affected by one or more of the following:

  • Providing direct services in partnership with a raft of other organisations
  • Working with young carers to support professionals and commissioners to improve their response to young carers

We provide support for Young Carers through:

  • Assessment and Support Planning
  • Young Person Friendly Information
  • Young Carers’ Participation
  • Group Support
  • Specialist Targeted Support
  • One to One Support
