Gloucestershire Educational Psychology Service (STEPS) wishes to recognise the valuable support Carers provide with an emphasis on the valuable skills that Carers can offer Care Leavers as they move on towards Further and Higher Education.

Research, which has brought together the voices of Care Leavers, indicates that Carers can provide vital and long-lasting positive benefits for supporting Care Leavers. Carers support future education and the development of some life-skills, which allows them to be prepared for future learning demands.

STEPS has created a resource for Foster Carers, with pointers from the research in some of the skills and tasks that best help in preparing Care Leavers for transition to further or higher education. With links also, to information and support services nationally and in Gloucestershire.
