New project by Healthwatch Gloucestershire: Exploring the experiences of young people who are autistic or ADHD

Published
Healthwatch Gloucestershire is running a project that aims to amplify the voices of autistic and ADHD young people aged 11–25, with a focus on girls, women, and gender-diverse people. In this article, Healthwatch explains how the organisation wants to understand their experiences across health, education, and community settings to help shape better support.

We’re exploring what it’s like to access support across health, education, and community settings – from diagnosis and school life to friendships, masking, and mental health. By listening to these lived experiences, we hope to highlight what’s working well and what needs to change to make services fairer, more inclusive, and easier to access.

All responses and conversations are anonymous, and your feedback will help shape our report and recommendations to local health, education, and social care services.

If you don’t fit the criteria but still want to share your experiences, then please reach out – we would love to hear from you.

How to take part in the survey:

You can share your experiences by completing our short online survey – it’s open to:

  • Autistic and ADHD young people (no requirement for formal diagnosis)
  • Ages 11-25
  • Those who live, or access support in, Gloucestershire
  • Those who identify as a woman or gender-diverse person

This survey closes on the Monday, 8 December 2025.

What happens next

Once the survey closes, we’ll analyse what we’ve heard and share the findings in a public report on our website.
