The Altus School
The start of the new school year sees The Altus School move into their new base in Eastbrook Road, Gloucester. The building, acquired by the council earlier in the year, had previously been used by a private school. Work was carried out over the school summer holidays to redecorate and make some adaptations and improvements where needed. These included a new kitchen for the cooking of school meals on site, redevelopment of the toilets along with upgrades to the science teaching room and IT infrastructure. The Eastbrook Road site will be used as one of the school’s dedicated Key Stage 4 centres (for pupils in Years 10 and 11).
The Altus School is a Local Authority maintained Pupil Referral Unit, which provides alternative provision for children and young people who have been, or are at risk of being, excluded from school. They operate from a number of sites across the county and this centre, at 7 Eastbrook Road, Gloucester, is well situated in terms of transport links and provides a substantially improved teaching and learning environment for some of our most vulnerable learners.
