Cheltenham school places

The County Council has a statutory duty to plan the provision of school places and to ensure there are sufficient, appropriately located places for all 4 to 16 year old young people in the County. This includes the commissioning of suitable school accommodation to support the promotion of high-quality educational standards and to ensure vulnerable learners get fair access to educational opportunities. The County Council manages the impact of rising and declining pupil numbers and helps to create a diverse community of schools.

Our review paper provides the data to inform the place planning requirements for both primary and secondary aged children who will seek a place at a Cheltenham school up to and including 2022 for primary and 2024 for secondary pupils.

New Cheltenham secondary school

Leckhampton C of E Primary School

Warden Hill Primary School

This is a pilot project for 1 year and will provide the school with temporary accommodation. The accommodation will provide a Year 6/7 nurture base to support those pupils who could potentially return back to mainstream secondary education to aid them in making a successful transfer.

This would in turn help to reduce the pressure for places within the special schools.

Work was successfully completed in August 2018.
