Gloucestershire Educational Psychology Service: World Mental Health Day - 10 October 2026

To mark World Mental Health Day 2026, the Specialist Teaching and Educational Psychology Service (STEPS) in Gloucestershire have created a practical resource to support schools in promoting positive mental wellbeing through trauma-responsive, relational and inclusive approaches. It can also be used by families.World Mental Health Day 2026 poster resource from STEPS GlosThis poster supports schools in creating safe, connected and inclusive environments that promote mental health and wellbeing for all children and young people. The resource highlights trauma-responsive approaches that can be embedded within everyday interactions and whole-school practice to build connections in the school community.

The poster draws together evidence-informed approaches including emotion coaching, the PACE (P is for Playfulness, A is for Acceptance, C is for Curiosity, E is for Empathy) approach and trauma-responsive practice. It provides practical prompts to help staff build positive relationships, understand behaviour as communication, support emotional regulation, and strengthen pupils' sense of safety, connection and belonging within school. By promoting understanding, inclusion and wellbeing, the resource encourages schools to reflect on how everyday interactions can positively influence children's experiences of education and learning.
