STEPS: Specialist Teaching and Educational Psychology Service

  Gloucestershire STEPS provide a comprehensive advice and support service to Schools, Early Years and Post 16 settings, through the SEND Code of Practice, 0-25 (2015).

STEPS brings together educational psychologists (EPs), specialist advisory teachers (ATs), sensory impairment specialists and an assistive technology lending library (ATLL).  Through working collaboratively with schools, families and other professionals, EPs and ATs offer assessment advice, consultation and practical strategies to help in identifying and meeting individual needs. We support inclusive education by helping with adapted teaching, the learning environment, and resources.

STEPS use a consultation model of support, working in a planned manner following the Gloucestershire graduated pathway, promoting children and young people's wellbeing, independence, participation and progress to best ensure they have appropriate support in achieving positive educational outcomes. We work,

Ø  with partners at a strategic level to bring about systems level development.

Ø  at local systems levels to identify and address trends and patterns.

Ø  with schools to support individuals in a bespoke manner.
