This constitution has been prepared under Section 37 of the Local Government Act 2000, which requires the County Council to maintain a Constitution.

This summary is intended to explain the purpose of the Constitution and to help the reader find their way around it.

The Constitution is divided into five parts. This introduction forms Part 1.
