Leader of the Council and cabinet members revealed at first meeting of new council

At the first meeting of the new county council, following elections on 6 May, Cllr Mark Hawthorne was re-elected Leader of the Council and the councillors who will be Cabinet Members were announced.

Following his re-election as council leader, Cllr Mark Hawthorne announced the councillors who would make up his cabinet and their areas of responsibility. They are as follows:

  • Lynden STOWE, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member with responsibilities for Finance and Change (Cotswolds)
  • Carole ALLAWAY-MARTIN, Cabinet Member with responsibilities for Adult Social Care Commissioning (Forest of Dean)
  • Kathy WILLIAMS, Cabinet Member with responsibilities for Adult Social Care Delivery (Gloucester)
  • Vernon SMITH, Cabinet Member with responsibilities for Highways and Flooding (Tewkesbury)
  • Stephen DAVIES, Cabinet Member with responsibilities for Children’s Safeguarding and Early Years (Stroud)
  • David GRAY, Cabinet Member with responsibilities for Environment and Planning (Tewkesbury)
  • Tim HARMAN, Cabinet Member with responsibilities for Public Health and Communities (Cheltenham)
  • Dave NORMAN, Cabinet Member with responsibilities for Public Protection, Parking and Libraries (Gloucester)
  • Philip ROBINSON, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Economy, Education and Skills (Forest of Dean)
