Work on new Innovation Lab to start at library
It will close on Monday 14 February and reopen on Monday 14 March so improvements can be carried out to the library, including work starting on a new Innovation Lab.
The library will be completely recarpeted and repainted during the closure and the existing shelving will also be upgraded.
New furniture will be installed to provide extra seating and there will be two new wall installations in the children’s library – a wall graphic giving a rural feel in keeping with the local area and an interactive sensory wall, with different materials and textures for younger children.
Vinyl will be put down in the new Innovation Lab area and new electrical installations for the lab will be carried out, ready for its opening later this year.
Innovation Labs are currently available at Coleford and Gloucester libraries, offering the latest digital design equipment and technical expertise to boost skills and support employment.
Click and collect services will be unavailable at Chipping Campden Library during the closure period due to limited space, but the nearest library in Moreton-in-Marsh will be open for customers to use instead.
Pop-up library sessions will be run at Chipping Campden Town Hall from 2pm to 5pm on Friday 18 February and Saturday 26 February and from 10am to 1pm on Wednesday 2 March, when a small selection of books will be available to borrow.
More information and details on opening hours at Moreton-in-Marsh Library are available at www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/libraries/library-locations-and-opening-hours/moreton-in-marsh-library/.
Cllr Dave Norman, cabinet member for libraries, said: “This closure will allow us to undertake wide-ranging improvements at Chipping Campden Library so I’m very grateful for everyone’s patience while this is carried out.
“It’s exciting to know work will be starting on another Innovation Lab in our library network to provide access for people in the Cotswolds. The improvement work will also give the library a whole new look and feel with upgraded facilities and new features, which I’m sure customers will enjoy.”
