Prizes to be won for creative Gloucestershire children

Primary school children in Gloucestershire are being encouraged to enter their designs for flags and cycling jerseys as excitement builds for the Tour of Britain coming to the county next month (Saturday, 9 September).

The competition is to encourage children get excited about the race starting in Tewkesbury and finishing in Gloucester, offering them the opportunity to get creative and be in with the chance of winning small cycling themed prizes. Winners will have prizes presented to them by a special guest before the prestigious Tour of Britain starts.

The race starts in Tewkesbury at 11am with family friendly activities taking place in the town in preceding hours. The race starts in Church Street in Tewkesbury in the shadow of the medieval Tewkesbury Abbey. Winners will be announced at 10am on Saturday, 9 September and will be invited to receive their prize on the race podium.

The race will finish in Southgate Street alongside the historic Gloucester Docks, after a route that will take in Bishops Cleeve, Winchcombe, Cirencester, Tetbury, Chipping Sodbury, Yate, Dursley, and Stroud.

Sheets for flags (PDF, 210.7 KB) and jerseys (PDF, 203 KB) can be downloaded from the county council website or collected from Tewkesbury Library. To be in with a chance of winning entries need to be returned to Tewkesbury Library by 6 September. Early entries may be displayed in some of the towns shop windows.
