New bus service for Woodmancote
People in the village had complained about Stagecoach’s decision last year to cancel the E Bus service, saying it had left them feeling isolated.
Gloucestershire County Council listened to these concerns and has worked closely with Pulhams Coaches to extend the 656 service to cover Woodmancote from Monday 20 February.
The service will operate two days a week, Monday and Friday, and is designed to take Woodmancote passengers into Bishop’s Cleeve.
The timetable and route map for the service is available to view here.
Cllr Philip Robinson, cabinet member with responsibility for buses, said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to provide a bus service for residents in Woodmancote.
“We have listened to their concerns since the previous service was cancelled by Stagecoach and would like to thank Pulhams Coaches for their support in getting this set up. I hope people in the village will enjoy using the new service.”
Cllr David Gray, local councillor for Woodmancote, said: “Stagecoach’s decision to cut their E service was a major disappointment, so it’s great news that a new Pulham’s bus service will be available for residents of Woodmancote. Hopefully the service will prove popular and support further services going forward.”
