Improvement works on Gloucester’s Finlay Road
The road surface will be improved in the Robinswood area of the city and will mean closures of surrounding routes.
The resurfacing will start on Tuesday 18 July and finish on Friday 28 July. Closures will be in place between the hours of 7pm and 7am. The road will not be closed on weekends and Bank Holidays.
Drivers will need to proceed with caution outside of the work hours as there will be a temporary surface.
For safety reasons there will be no vehicle access through the work site, with the exception of the emergency services.
The Eastern Avenue roundabout and a 220-metre stretch of Finlay Road to just past the Bibury Road junction will be resurfaced.
This road will be closed overnight, in addition to:
- Eastern Avenue to the Painswick Road junction
- Tredworth Road to the junction with Hatherley Road
- Cotteswold Road from the Eastern Avenue roundabout to the Teddington Gardens junction
- Reservoir Road from the Eastern Avenue roundabout to the Baneberry Road junction
The improvement work will see over 1,000 tonnes of binder & surface course laid on Finlay Road.
A diversion route will be in place for all the affected roads.
The resurfacing work is part of the council’s commitment to invest a further £100 million into county’s roads.
Cllr Dom Morris, cabinet member responsible for highways at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “This resurfacing project will help to improve the quality of an important road through Gloucester.
“This resurfacing work is an important part of our £100 million investment for improving roads in our county.
“I would like to thank residents and businesses for their patience while we undertake this work to improve the road.”
