Free healthy lifestyle support available for families

New online healthy lifestyle support called BeeZee Academy is now available for every family in Gloucestershire.

Gloucestershire County Council, in partnership with BeeZee Bodies, have released BeeZee Academy; a free online learning zone for parents and children to do fun activities, games and challenges whilst learning about healthy eating and physical activity.

With courses for the adults and YouTube style videos for the children, this engaging platform covers tricky topics including fussy eating, exercise, eating more fruit and veg, portion sizes, healthy snacking and more. The aim of the platform is simply to make healthier choices easier and enjoyable for all the family. The courses are broken down into sections that only take a few minutes to complete – perfect for those who are short on time!

BeeZee Academy has been designed by BeeZee Bodies, creator of award-winning healthy weight programmes for families.

Cllr Mark Hawthorne, cabinet member for public health and communities and leader of Gloucestershire County Council, said: “This is a fantastic free resource that offers practical and realistic advice for both adults and children. It has been put together by specialist family nutritionists who have listened to many families in the county and further afield to really understand the barriers to making healthy choices. I encourage all families to sign up and have a look at the support on offer.”

This is the first time this online support is available to families across the whole of Gloucestershire, alongside in-person programmes that run over 10 weeks, in various locations across the county. The next in-person programmes will be starting at the end of January 2024.
