During this time-period as a retained firefighter with GFRS you would have been covered by injury and compensation provisions, but you would not have been able to join the Firefighters' Pension Scheme 1992 (FPS 1992). However, following a legal judgement you may now meet the criteria to be offered membership in the modified scheme.

For more information please visit: https://fpsmember.org/fps-2006-special-members/second-options-exercise.

If you would like Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service to provide you with further information please email your full name, date of birth, NI number, address, and approximate periods of service as a retained firefighter to: pensions@glosfire.gov.uk.

Please note that the option to take up membership of the modified scheme for eligible employees is only available for a limited period, so please contact the GFRS pensions team as soon as possible if you think you may be eligible.
