Parking scheme set to go live as zone 15 issues resolved by deadline
The county council has apologised for the delays and problems with implementing the new parking scheme and is grateful to residents for their patience while they have been resolved.
Warning notices will now be issued and from 15 December the entire scheme will be enforced by issuing fixed penalty fines.
To compensate for the delay in enforcing the expanded area, the county council has extended all annual permits purchased before December 2023 to expire in December 2024, including those on roads that had already begun enforcement or were previously in the old parking zone. Residents who purchased a pay monthly permit will have been credited for those months purchased before December 2023. Any visitor vouchers used up to December 2023 have also been recredited to individuals.
To reassure residents and businesses regarding the number of visitor and business permits available, we will be reviewing our policy on both the 50-visitor permit cap for households and the two permits per business cap. We are also amending the wording on our visitor vouchers (to become day permits) and business permits to clarify that these can be used by any user to park all day.
There will be no enforcement in the entire zone 15 from 24 December 2023 to 1 January 2024 inclusive, to alleviate residents’ concerns about visitors over the festive season.
Anyone who has any further issues can report them to parking@gloucestershire.gov.uk
Cllr Mark Hawthorne, leader of Gloucestershire County Council, said: “We’re very grateful to residents for their understanding while these outstanding issues were being resolved and I’d like to thank them for their patience.
“The scheme will be going live on 15 December when fines will be issued across the whole area. I’m confident that it will make the lives of residents easier by helping them find parking spaces close to their homes and not displacing parking to neighbouring streets. However, we will review the scheme in autumn next year when we will look closely at all feedback from residents.”
