Families of Gloucestershire, say hello to healthy habits!
Funded by the county council and run by BeeZee Bodies, the award-winning 12-week programme helps families to explore healthy foods, get active together and have fun!
Whether it’s overcoming fussy eating, getting to grips with portion sizes, or learning about healthy snacking, the programmes are designed to help families develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime.
The free sessions are for families with children aged 7 to 12 who are above ideal weight. They are run by a team of friendly nutritionists in locations across the county.
Fully family focused and centred around fun, these sessions include lots of practical elements like cooking sessions, games, and activities.
Families have until Friday 29 September to sign up for the free 12-week programme.
Free online support for families with children aged 4 to 18 is also available all year round.
Cllr Mark Hawthorne, cabinet member for public health and communities and leader of Gloucestershire County Council, said: "Encouraging healthier eating and physical activity are key priorities for us. Childhood obesity is a serious threat to the health, wellbeing and life chances of children and young people. Without action, childhood obesity tends to carry on into adulthood and can cause serious health complications like heart disease and diabetes.”
Stuart King, Managing Director at BeeZee Bodies; said: “This is an exciting time for our growing team in Gloucestershire, helping local families live healthier and happier lives. Our nutritionists can’t wait to meet the new families coming to our in-person programmes, and our online programmes mean that we can provide free support to every family in Gloucestershire all year round.”
The free support is available to all families with children who are above an ideal healthy weight, registered with a school or GP in Gloucestershire. Specialist support for children with special educational needs or disability is also available.
