Further trees on adjacent private land will need to be felled on the A436 after around 70 trees came down during Storm Darragh earlier this month.

The A436 has been closed between Notgrove and the A429 at Whiteshoots Hill since the private trees were brought down by the storm on the weekend of 7-8 December.

Gloucestershire County Council have been working hard alongside their contractor to clear the debris and open the road as quickly as possible with residents now able to access their properties.

Following a safety check and in discussion with the landowner, it is clear that there are around 40 other trees alongside the road that will need to be felled to ensure the safety of road users and residents.

Due to the number of trees that will need to be felled, the A436 will need to remain closed for longer than anticipated.

Access to the road will be maintained for residents and is expected to reopen fully before Christmas. The county council will provide a further update next week.

A diversion route is in place during the closure using the A40 and A429.
