Praise for new training directory to support care sector
Proud to Care is jointly commissioned by the county council and NHS Gloucestershire to promote opportunities available within the social care and health sector in Gloucestershire. Its new A-Z training directory shares details of local and national training as well as how to access courses. It aims to support staff working in adult social care across the county, to easily access training to meet their needs.
Alongside the directory, Proud to Care has launched local career pathways designed to support career development by showcasing the different opportunities available within the care sector. These pathways outline the knowledge and skills required for people to reach their career goals and highlight the core personal values needed to work in adult social care.
Wellbeing is a significant factor for retaining staff and signposting to relevant and appropriate support can be challenging. With this in mind, Proud to Care have created a wellbeing and pastoral support section which outlines the various offers available to Gloucestershire’s care providers.
Feedback from the local care sector has been overwhelmingly positive, with the directory’s design being praised as simple, clear, and easy to use on a smartphone or computer.
· “It’s exactly what I have been looking for… thank you.”
· “The training directory has provided a useful tool in helping us find training courses, both through the NHS and private providers, which are tailored to the home’s requirements.”
· “It supports individuals to understand what a career in social care means and the level of knowledge, experience and skills required to deliver high-quality, personalised care and support.”
· “The wellbeing A-Z has provided a fantastic service to our staff; it has been a valuable tool when assisting our team members with a range of services.”
Cllr Carole Allaway-Martin, cabinet member for adult social care commissioning at Gloucestershire County Council said: “We are committed to supporting Gloucestershire’s care providers to recruit and retain staff, and making sure they have the knowledge, experience and skills needed to deliver high quality care and support for residents.
“The new Proud to Care directory makes it easy to find local and national training courses, identify career development opportunities, and receive wellbeing and pastoral support.
“It’s also a great resource for anyone who is considering a career in care, to explore the many career opportunities available and find the training they need to help them achieve their goals.”
