Household Recycling Centre to reopen after improvements made to the site
The site, based near Bishops Cleeve, was closed in January to make essential repairs and improvements to the recycling centre.
The work has added a new reuse shop to the site to allow customers to buy items that would otherwise have been disposed of.
New drainage has also been installed to prevent flooding and a new energy-efficient lighting system put in place.
Resurfacing work has been undertaken to replace the old tarmac and concrete surfaces, which have eroded away. A new customer access road now runs around the edge of the centre to separate customers from waste service vehicles, improving safety and reducing congestion.
Reuse shops are already in place at the county council’s Fosse Cross and Oak Quarry Household Recycling Centres and will be contained in a shipping container. Ubico staff will manage the shop during opening hours. Items can be donated by the public and some may be intercepted before disposal by staff, if they feel they could be reused.
Money raised from sales will be used to support the costs of running the recycling centre.
Additional closures will be needed at Wingmoor Farm HRC on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 April, to complete resurfacing and white lining works on the upper level.
